I’m curious on how you guys ID seriatopora, I got two new seriatopora species today, one is a Hystrix (It’s extremely pointy on its growth). I have a total of 3 Seriatopora now, two are Hystrix and the third is what I believe to be a Calliendrum however I would love to have it confirmed and know how to ID them.

Pointy doesnt always mean it's hystrix, the one on the left looks like it could possibly be S. stellata, which looks like hystrix but the rows of polyps are actually raised a bit forming ridges where as hystrix polyps/ corallites are fairly flush/ not raised. Example: Tyree Ponape is believed to be stellata.
S. aculeata is another species that can resemble hystrix esp when growing in lower flow environments.

The third could be caliendrum, but it could also be guttatus as they look very similar.
Hope this helps

Better pictures, more close up with polyps retracted is the best way to get reliable IDs on pretty much any SPS
