Here's an example of a peninsula stand I recently completed. This is my first adventure in to the saltwater world. All the panels are actually removable for full access on both sides. I did this in lieu of doors for easier access.
Just starting my setup. It's a 55 gal tank with a 25 gal Sump. I built the entire setup myself. I still need to add some trim behind the doors I block the light.
I also used liquid nails and 2.5" screws to hold it together. All the other screws are 3" and the stringers are 10" on center lol. The ply wood top and bottom are liquid nailed and screwed down. Notching the 4x4s is the only way to do it.
This is my own personal stand built by myself, octo is hand cut, stained glass behind using tank lights, bottom lit by fuge light.
I built a 2x frame and the cabinet is freestanding, I canslide the whole thing out to get to gear if needed, w/out any obstruction.
Wood is African mahogany.
The structural support of this stand is made of 3/4" plywood and sealed with enamel paint on the inside and covered with travertine marble skin. Tank is 40"x22"x22"
Nice stand! I have a metal stand too. What material do you have between your stand and tank? Also, what material are you using between the tank and the ceramic floor? Is that a cermaic floor?
