Windex has an ammonia free version, crystal rain (I think), check the label. That's what I use. And I also spray it on the glass...Carefully.

I've been wondering this too. My wife has recently discovered oil infusers that puts "medicinal" oils into the air. I personally think its anecdotal and prefer my medicines come from someone trained in medicine and not someone who is just selling them but I lost that arguement. I haven't noticed any negative results yet, been a couple months. I do run GAC.
For the glass cleaning: I spray the glass down with rodi, use the mag float then wipe down with a quality microfiber towel. Glass is crystal clear and any overspray is ATO:)

Well let's see.

Windex gets it clean 1st pass so 100x better doesn't matter even if that could be quantified. I don't get any newspaper delivered. I have had no side effects from windex. The girlfriend keeps windex and paper towels handy. I don't want to either put vinegar in a spray bottle or dump it on paper towels/newspaper for no reason.

Just rubbing with a dry paper towel usually works pretty well for me. Putting a layer of paper towel under your Mag-Float handle is pretty effective, too. I saw someone do it on TV once, lol.

It can definitely have an effect - based on the amount of dog hair I pull out of my skimmer and filter sock on a weekly basis with only a single 25lb beagle, I can't imagine how much of the cleaners, scented candle, air fresheners, etc. make it into my tank.

I guess this thread is a good reminder to change your carbon out.
