Sold Banana grail, but its not?

I agree, neither is a grail

My grail is full grown and now 5 heads but I found pics of it when small to show that regardless of baby or adult - they have green and no purple

They aren’t bananas. They have zero green. Only purple. Sorry that happened to you. The grail retailer is working with me. I can return for refund or get the “grail” discounted and a store credit. I’m going to make my own decision today. That grail was part of a 2k order so it’s not like I bought just one coral, but that shouldn’t matter anyway. You should get what you order. You can clearly see the green on the tentacles in the pic and no purple.

Didn’t not use PayPal goods and services? If it was an online retailer, your credit card covers it with a chargeback.

All the bananas I’ve seen have green. I bought two from a store 2 hours away from me. One has bright vivid green, other has dark green

And fyi if you see a green mouth one being sold as “banana” with no mention of grail and it is for non grail prices, it’s misidentified and a deal

The darkness in the first two pictures is common and is not a shadow. It’s how purple photographs under filtered lens and blue lights.

I’ve even messaged some sellers here who specialize and sell torches, and they have confirmed that banana has purple but the amount is affected by tank conditions nutrients and flow

Banana grail is only one with the green. And yes this is a newer term and not all vendors especially lfs are on the same page

Hey there. My experience has been if you want a brighter more yellow color on banana torches you need to have them in higher par and slightly higher nutrients. Mine are typically kept at 225-275PAR, 15 N03 & 0.04-0.09 PO4.

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this issue. Sometimes when torches extend longer the color of the tentacles can change. The yellow color should still be very vibrant. One thing that if it is extending too much it could be an indication that there is not enough food in the water column. If you feed on a regular basis it encourages it to stay shorter and more vibrant yellow in color.


My current torch vendor has over 150 “banana torches” and “banana grail” torches in stock. The way they are selling them is
Banana = vibrant yellow, 360 around the tentacle, no stripes. But with purple base of tentalcle

Grails - same as above but green mouth and green tentacle base. Zero purple at all

Seems like it would be a lot less confusing if people would just list them as, say, "green and yellow torch with very little purple", "green and yellow torch with green mouth and no purple", or so on. Sounds less flashy than banana grail, but it'd skip all the confusion over what the names mean. Or, heck- do the name and also describe it.

This thread is hilarious to me!! Of all corals, torches and acans morph so much you’ll never know what your really got!! Forget the names and buy it cause you like it! lol.. I’ve seen holy grails go all green or pale gold and look like crap! Haha.

Here is a Malaysian short tentacle banana torch in one of my other systems

You can see the difference between an overhead pic - looks full yellow vs a side pic - purple base of tentacles can be noticed

Sellers will take pics that maximize the yellow and hide the purple

Honestly the naming has gotten out of control

And the reason I didn’t file claim with my “sun god” was because it grew into a beautiful healthy coral that I enjoy, and at the end of the day does it make me happy? Yes.
