I want to get some backup Apex equipment and am curious what, if any, does everyone keep a spare of.

Current backup plans:
Eb832
Temp probe
2 magnet liquid sensors
2 ATK sensors

I don’t tend to keep backups, though as I have replaced older black modules I have kept them just in case (WXM, PM1/2 and EB8). Very little cannot survive 2 day shipping.

With relying on the ATK for ATO and the temp probe for the heaters, I am sure 2 days would be fine, but idk if I want to deal with the hassle for those few days

I was not very clear. I do not keep spare apex stuff on hand but I do have non-Neptune backups. For example, I also run a Ranco temp controller just in case the apex does a face plant (which it did recently). Same for an autotopoff ATO. Lights are not controlled by apex.

I view my apex as convenience rather than a necessity. In other words, if the apex crashing means the tank is toast that’s not an advisable place to be.

EB832 - I run two. Primary and secondary. I have one in a box, spare, but will be used later in the garage for auto water change.

Cor return pumps - I have 3. Two for returns (redundancy) and one in the box (spare). I use the spare for cleaning and backup. I'll replace one, clean, swap out the other, clean, and then store. Great time saver.

DOS heads - spares are nice.

DOS unit - primary for dosing, second one is a spare. This is now going into service for auto water changes.

Nothing too major. Most spares are for ease of maintenance (return pumps) or fail over (eb832s). I have two heaters unrelated to Neptune just because I think two are more efficient.

Sort of like taking a trans Atlantic or trans Pacific flight in a single engine plane. I don't do that :D

It depends how in depth you are stocked and what you test for. For myself, I keep a spare EB832, ph probe, Trident refills and USB cable

Good point on the DoS. I do keep replacement peri tubing on hand and did buy replacement rollers many years ago …. Originals haven’t worn out yet LOL.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
