I started a 20 gallon tank back in October with live sand and dry rock.
Long story short: My ATO was not calibrated properly and did not top off my tank while I was away on a trip. This caused a lot of water to evaporate and I had to ask my mom to unplug the motor to keep it from burning out as the water fell lower. I had just finished cycling the tank and wanted to wait until I was back from my trip to add my first fish.
With the holiday madness over I'd like to empty the stagnant water from the tank and start over. Any advice or tips for doing so?
My plan is to dump the sand, rinse out the tank, and start with fresh sand and water. Would I need to do anything to the rock structures in terms of cleaning/bleach?
