Shall I tag someone else while Mdbannister tends to his sick child?

I would hold off a bit. He's currently on the road now. See, he can't even update us on that lol

Ok guys! Sorry for the long wait!! I blame JPS…because of his lame jumping out and then randomly jumping back in…actually, I’ll just blame him bc it seems like he’s someone good to blame. HA!

I actually have 3 tanks, but I’m going to focus on my big mixed reef. The others are a 120 anemone tank that is still in process, and a 14g BioCube that I’m using as a frag tank.

Also, a brief disclaimer…my photography skills are not great. I’m working on it… ;)

Now, here she is…

First, Here's where she started out when I first got her:

beginning.jpg

And the FTS from today!

FTS.jpg

Tank info: 180-gallon display (48†x 24†x 24â€). Glass. No idea who the maker/brand is bc I bought her used for $300, and I haven’t seen a label or stamp. :D
Sump: Sump is about 50 gallons (I think), and I think the dimensions are 36â€L x 20â€W x 22â€H. Acrylic. The sump came with the tank, so again, I have no idea who made it bc it came with the tank.
Refugium: Fuge is the large middle compartment of the sump. I have chaeto and LR in there at present. It’s got tons of pods.
Skimmer: Pacific Coast Imports Reef Octopus (3000 is the model number I believe)
Overflow: Herbie style
Flow: 2 Jebao RW-15s and my Jebao DC9000 return pump. I like the RW-15s, but was surprised that I had to turn them down quite a bit bc they were kicking up so much sand and even knocking my frags off the rockwork at full-power. The flow pattern is comparable to MP40s with the added advantage that they are adjustable.
Lighting: 3 EcoTech Marine Radions Gen1 over the DT (These are LEDs, …just in case anyone doesn’t recognize the name ;) ). These replaced my old evergrow fixtures and corals that I thought were one solid color have started showing amazing colors! Also planning to add 4 T5 bulbs (going with ATI 3 blue+ and 1 purple+) as supplemental lighting…got everything installed but the ballast.
Refuge light is a cheap ebay LED growth lamp bulb 4 3w LEDs (2 blue and 2 red)
Dosing/caRx: Bubble Magus BM1 Currently dosing Alk and vodka (though after a recent cyano outbreak I may be stopping the vodka)
Controller if any: I don’t have one yet…but I’m saving pennies for an Apex :D
Maintenance info: Oh man….I’m a super lazy reefer I think. I scrape algae when I see it, feed the tank every two days (don’t judge…my fish are FAT. LOL), and I do a 5% water change once a week…unless I forget and then it’s a 10% change every 2 weeks.
Fish stock list:
· Clown pair (black ice and Picasso)
· Clown goby
· Mandarin dragonette (Fattest little mandarin I’ve ever seen)

And here are a few older pics of the inhabitants that are in there still (some of the fish had already gone to bed when I was finally able to take pics since these are from around 1 AM).

And here's my favorite part of reefing:

alicia.jpg

I’ve had this tank up and running for about 2 years. There’s a lot I would do differently now than when I set it up initially. I would not have a DSB. I would QT EVERYTHING that goes in it!!! I would space my rock work a bit further away from the sides with more open space. There are a lot of corals in there that I probably wouldn’t buy again (since I’d like to be more selective of what goes in the tank). I would plan my fish stock list before ever getting the tank wet. LOL But all-in-all I am very pleased with it. :)

I am already planning an upgrade to a 300 DD, but it’s probably more of a dream than a plan right now. It definitely won’t happen in this house (as long as I intend to stay married)
Lots of great guys have helped me get to where I am now in reefing…without their help, I’m certain I would have made a great many more mistakes (…I’ve made plenty of them as it is).

I’m going to tag a guy that has been one of the biggest helps to me in reefing, and who I’ve been bugging to get his tank build thread up here for a while! Now he’ll HAVE to post pics of his tank!! Hybridazn! You’re up!

looking really good md! it's really telling how much tlc has gone into the tank from that shot of the tank and stand when you first got it.
