Hi All,

I’m setting up a IM 75EXT for mix reef use after 10 years out of the hobby. Thought I would start this thread to share the build and get advice/feedback as I go along.

I spent some time modifying the the plumbing kit to (1) allow for offsetting the sump in the stand to make room for a cabinet/controller board. (2) hard plum the UV sterilizer into one of the return lines. All modifications are dry fitted and can be adjusted.

Looking for feedback on the UV setup pictured below. I would have liked to have the ball valve before the UV sterilizer, but couldn’t think of a clean way to make this work with the flow sensor. Any problems with the set up that any of you can see? What else am I not thinking of?

Thanks!
David

Nice build. What did you do to the plumbing to offset the sump? I see a potential problem in accessing the UV for maintenance. How much room will you have to get back there to take it out if you need to?

All of the white PVC are the modifications I made. Basically just extending and reducing certain sections to accommodate for the adjustment in the stand.

As for the UV, I have enough room to remove the light blub from the side of the tank/stand. I also can access the bulkhead from the front of the stand for annual maintenance. The main issue hasn't been access, it's been flow. My sensor is only showing 220 gph, but my return is all the way up. I think there is too much resistance and all of the flow is coming out the other side.
