Long before Pro Corals there was an enthusiastic Reefer who went by the name SunnyX. He inspired us all with his rimless 75 and was one of the pioneers of modern methods of bacteria driven nutrient control. Well back then sunny had a sunset milli that was like no other and people just gravitated towards it constantly. I personally got a hold of him right about the time he was starting up Pro Corals and was looking to trade coral for any type of equipment he could get his hands on.

I had a ridicules stash of the old blue icecap 250’s and a box of used bulbs. Lots of them. So I sent Sunny a bunch of stuff and he send me a bunch back. In the box, along with the coveted superman table and a few other gems was the original Sunnys sunset.

This is another acro i just kind of tucked away for a few years. It endured a couple horrible tank transfers and numerous other abuses over the years. But one day about a year ago I finally took notice of this thing. It had gotten some girth and the color was just astounding. I still left it alone but would rarely pepper a frag pack with a branch while I was holding out for the time to really get a good shot of it. it’ s mounted on one of gooches old tinted tiles so before you go to crazy on me please know that. this is what this milli looks like!

After almost four years of moderate neglect and countless location changes I am happy to say that this thing is looking better than ever and I was able to get a couple of decent shots of it today.

Now i know the MI folks have been fragging the crap out of this one for years and just about every reefer within a 300 mile radius of Sunnys’ got it and that sunset mills have become all to common these days but for those of you seeking a truly Legendary Milli I am adding it to the site today! This one has been captive almost ten years now!

The Og SunnyX sunset. If I can go ahead quote Troylee. This pretty much says it all:)

I have this piece straight from Sonny and it's still one of my top 5 pieces, but I'm a sucker for old school favorites.

+1 it is a nice one. I have 2 other sunset morphs I've had for over a year and they are both finicky when they decide to show their best colors. There is just something about an acro that had been in captivity for years.... Its been through lighting changes, alk swings, temp changes, nutrient level fluctuations and it has thrived and recovered. Aquaculture acros are like buying a navy seal for your tank  Kudos for showcasing this piece!

Very nice piece.... Now we need a piece named for JimC :)

Ha ha. Also in that sweet box from Sonny was the JimC stunner. Sadly I lost that one a couple years ago.

Thanks for the kudos guys I really apprieciate it. Agree! The ones just about bullet proof lol.

In my tank, there's 30+ of frags from you Adam, and by far my two favorite are this piece and the Purple Meister.

Hard to pick considering how much I'm infatuated with some of your blue millis I have as well and the red monster that is acting like my gf...

My understanding is that life just pretty much got too busy for Pro Corals to continue. Sad because pretty much every stick in my tank came from either Battlecorals or Pro Corals.

What happened with Pro Corals and Sunnyx?

JimC just left my house. He says hello. His new tank is still stabilizing, but should be rocking closer to the fall... He also says dont forget to represent his other coral... The PC Superman Table :)

Ha ha awesome. Well if I could just let mine grow a little before fragging it is have something to show off. As of now it's just an over fragged branchless blob

You'd laugh

So I was in this hobby about 4-5 years ago working away on my Shallow Rimless and Sunny's thread was a big inspiration for me back then. I since left the hobby for almost half a decade and now back in full swing 8 months into the 47 Rimless Rebuild. Anyways, it is really cool for me to come back into the hobby several years later and learn the land of more branded corals, collector pieces and the way hobbyists have made careers and come and gone etc. Cool to see this legacy live on.

This thread is inspirational, if I was in the States I would pick up a piece of this just on principle.
