Hello everyone! This is my 3rd build thread and my plan is to actually keep this one updated. The last 2 tanks have taught me a lot and I think this might be with me for a while now lol. Waterbox was great with shipping times this year and I received my tank in a week. My plan for this build is a mainly lps, softie, and a few sps. Going for a storm trooper look as far as the exterior goes. Here's a list of equipment so far!

EQUIPMENT

RETURN PUMP- VARIOS 4 RUN BY WAVE ENGINE
POWERHEADS- ICE CAP GYRE 2K RUN BY WAVE ENGINE
HEATERS- 1 200 WATT BRS/ 1 300WATT BRS ON A INKBIRD
ATO- HYDROS ATO
SKIMMER- BUBBLE MAGUS CURVE 5 ELITE ( MIGHT UPGRADE TO A DC SKIMMER)
CONTROLLER- HYDROS X4 PRO PACK
FILTRATION- CLARISEA SK3000
LIGHTING- 2X AI HYDRA 32 ON 49.5 HMS RAIL
BIO MEDIA- MAXSPECT NANO TECH SPHERES
ATO RESERVOIR- BASHSEA 10 GALLON

TANK IS HERE!

Delivery was flawless. Fedex freight arrived on time and had no problem putting the tank inside my garage. He said they do that no matter what so I'm glad I didn't pay the extra waterbox charges for that.

Had the day off so I was able to build the stand, my wife helped me get the sump in, and hang the lights. The stand was so easy to put together vs the old wood stands. Also the leveling feet are way easier to work with and are heavy duty so it made leveling the stand a breeze. Sunday I will have my cousins help me carry the tank onto the stand. Ordered up some plumbing so I can get the clarisea installed as well before it gets wet.

I opted to use a Bashsea 10 gallon reservoir outside of the stand instead of the glass one provided. My reason for this is I wanted room to put controllers inside the cabinet since its in my living room and wanted to keep it clean looking. That and my wife would kill me haha.

I seriously can't wait to see what the scape will look like inside the tank. I'm still undecided on whether or not I want sand in the tank. Really leaning towards no sand because of maintenance but you cant deny how good a sand bed looks in a reef tank. I just really don't want to deal with looking at diatoms/dinos for weeks like I have in previous tanks.

That's it for now! Like I said i'll try to keep this updated as much as possible. Have a great weekend everyone!

Tank is in!! Got the tank inside with help of my cousins. 4 suction cups made it a breeze to lift it into position. Rinsed the rock and placed it inside the tank as well. I love this aquascape!

Finished up cabinet lighting today. Used these on my last build and they’re honestly the best for the money. Come with 6 bars that are linkable and come with a motion sensor so no need to add any door switches. Super bright too!

Still gathering up stuff to plumb the clarisea sk3000. The spot it’s going to be in is extremely tight so I’m stuck between hard plumbing it or just using silicone for when it comes time to change the roll. Where it’s at in the picture is it where it’s going I just have my sump as storage for now lol.

sweet set up, I would definitely use flexible plumbing for the roller just for ease of maintenance .

Got some free time today and got started on some plumbing today! Waiting on some unions to come in tomorrow and I’ll post the finished product but I’m loving this red/grey color scheme. Grey barbs would take too long to get here so I headed over to Lowe’s for some white ones :confounded-face: At least they’re only going to be on the end of the return piping to keep the vibration to a minimum.

If anyone’s got the same tank and want to convert plumbing from metric to standard plumbing I used these! 40mm to 1 1/4 inch. The clarisea takes a 32mm or 1 inch pipe so also get a reducer bushing 1 1/4 to 1 inch.

Got it all filled up. I’ve never done a bare bottom and I’m really loving the way it looks. Going to really take my time with this build and not rush stocking the tank. I’ve learned my lesson and I want to apply the knowledge I’ve gained from making mistakes early on in this hobby.

Might add another hydra or just do 2 ai blades at a later time to cover some of shaded areas in front.

Just a quick update. When I first got the tank setup Waterbox sent me the wrong plumbing for the emergency drain. It was way too long so I cut it until they sent me the replacement. Fast forward to today when the new plumbing came in and it’s still wrong lol. Figured this was a good time to relocate the emergency a little bit further back because when the pump is set a little higher the waterfall goes right into the emergency and makes a whole bunch of noise. The tank is now COMPLETELY SILENT.

Quick update. Tank just finished cycling after 2 weeks. I have the first fish coming on the 20th from dr reef! First tank inhabitants will be

2 Black ice clownfish
2 bangaii Cardinal
1 Magnificent fox face

I really wanted to express how much I like the clarisea sk3000. I used to have the Reefmat from Red Sea and it was a nice unit and really easy to change the roll but alot of detritus would pass through into my sump. I believe the clarisea fleece is a smaller micron size. I’ll see how much I like it when it comes time to change the roll on the clarisea lol.

nice choice on the fish, I use the clarisea I did the plumbing so I could remove it from the sump to change the roll instead of struggling in the sump
