long story short, I had about 2 gallons of left over instant ocean RC from my last WC.
new tank so i was not running the skimmer, now I want to start it again.

I left the RC in a bucket with out flow or heat in the basement about 50F temp.
think I could use one gallon just to make sure I have enough volume when I turn on the skimmer?

tang is 80 gallon RS 300XL
only life is gorgs & macors a few snails.

I know the general rule with IO RC is use it up not to store it but thinking that a small amount might be OK?

its takes a long time to mix RC so making fresh it doable but not ideal for a small batch.

thoughts.

I have 30 gallons of pre mixed salt water I keep in my basement for weeks sometimes. I heat it before doing a water change, never been a problem

I routinely have a 32 gallon brute trash can full of rc! I just check salinity before i use but i also leave a small powerhead in the can along woth a heater. The longest i used it was over the course of 2 months and didnt have any issues. Granted that was doing 2 gallon water changes though

for sure but some store better than others. some need flow and heat others do not.
so hence the question. :)

I remember BRS doing a vid.. on it. I guess I should re- watch it.

It’s kind of a given that at a minimum you should have a heater in it. Flow just allows it to heat more efficiently.
