Hello Everyone,

I have started Vodka dosing following the formula that Randy Holmes had posted a while back. Where does everyone dose the vodka? Do you dose in the return pump chamber or somewhere else and do turn off skimmer, UV etc..?

I am following a dosing chart increasing my dosage by .5 ml weekly until I see my nitrates drop to 5ppm then I will lower the dose from that level by .5ml to, hopefully, maintain 5 -10 ppm.
Currently, I am dosing 2ml to about 110 gallons total water volume.

I dosed into my return chamber as well.

I think my final dose for my 120g was about 8ml a day. I was surprised how little it took to drop nitrates. Every tank is different though.

I was dosing 5ml per day and maintained nitrates <5
Took a month to build enough bacteria but when you get there it’s just a small maintenance dose

I dose in the display cuz I don't want to clear everything out of the way to get to the sump. plus that's the highest flow area. Also, I'm dosing 3.5-4 ml of everclear (scales to 8.5-9.75 ml vodka) daily in 110 gallons.

I dosed vinegar just upstream of my rock and macroalgae filled refugia so that any bacteria it drove would tend to grow there rather than in the display.
Interesting, I was concerned it would cause my skimmer to go nuts. Did you have this issue?

Neither vodka not vinegar typically makes a skimmer act up.
