Honestly man I think the heat does mess it up. My LFS tested my water and it had been sitting in my car and very hot. The salinity read 1.022 on their Milwaukee meter. My refractometer read 1.025 at home. The next day they tweaked my refract. and when I got home and tested my water, nothing had changed. I haven't taken a fresh sample up there but something is certainly suspicious.

Why not just take it in with you?

I've found salinity to really affect my readings. I don't know about temp, but why not just bring it into work and leave it somewhere instead of your truck?

I'm not sure I have the right answer but triton test water is shipped to Germany and they say it has no effect. I'm not sure how this would compare to hobby grade test kits though.

Maybe put it in a small cooler with an ice pack so it doesn't get too hot.
