Hi all,
What’s this red stuff growing out of the coral? Some kind of algae? It’s on the left of the coral.

From what I can see it looks like macro algae but hard to tell from the pictures, it’s best to cut blues when providing pictures for help.

Please post another pic but with brighter lights so we can determine if its macro algae or cyano

Although it looks like a tiny anemone in phone screen, closer to macro algae

Cyano? lets do a test !
Grab a turkey baster and blow gentle bursts on the red stuff. if it blows away fairly easy, it cyano. If it remains, Macro algae

Looks to me as if there's a barnacle that lives in that part of the coral? I've seen this before when there's a lot of food and/or particulates in the water column and the barnacle leaves deposits or detritus and it builds up and causes this to happen.

Yep did the test and the red just popped off. Got it out of my tank as soon as if flew off. Looks like cyano
Cyano will be more of a may whereas macro will be leafy or bubble with leaves such as gracillaria
