It amazes how quick many people in this hobby are to latch onto stupid fads that have little basis for their existence yet so many are stuck in the dated baseless thinking of keeping temps stable and 80 or lower.

mine fluctuates about 3-4 degrees day/night and I've never had any issues.

for yrs i used to keep my tanks at 80-82 then i put a tank in a wall
so it has a room now.i found that i had a humidity problem,turned temp down to 78
big difference.
when i ran my tank in the 80's i had no problems with corals or fish.
i find since turning temp down its easier to keep tangs more plump.

Many fish do better at lower temperatures. As more deepwater species are collected we will see temperatures slowly drop. I personally keep my reef tank at 73-75F while my FO holding tank is kept at 69F.

I wouldn't recommend keeping Acroporas in the 60s, but corals adapt well to temperatures in the mid to low 70s.

I like to keep mine just before it boils........










Mine actually fluctuates between 75 am/overnight-79 mid-day/evening before lights go out....Haven't had any issues with fluctuating temps, well not that I have noticed anyway.

Been reading between 79-80 I have coral and fish , but still having problems with coral dying and funky bacteria ! needing HELP ?????? do not know what to due?? check with local salt water fish and pet shop and THEY ALL TELL ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND ALWAYS TRY TO GET ME TO BUY THIS OR THAT PRODUCT.

I highly recommend purchasing a good book (or few of them), gaining a good base knowledge, and coming to your own conclusions on how to best make your animals thrive.
