Decided to get back into the hobby a couple months ago and decided I wanted an 80g shallow tank. Placed and order that was canceled about a week later and they told me they didn’t know when they would have more. I had already built my rockscape and ordered all the equipment. So, I was stuck with that size tank and had no choice but to go custom.

I ordered a 48”x24”x16” low iron tank from Glass Cages. Three 1.5” drains and two 1” returns. Decided to go with an external coast2coast over flow as well. I will likely use a bean animal style overflow.
I just picked the tank up yesterday and need the loc-line to come in but should have it wet by this weekend.

Equipment list:
Two eco tech radios g15
Varios 6 return
Vertex Omega 150
Eco tech mp40qd
Eco tech mp10qd
Neptune Apex
Dos(awc)
3 - Bashsea ss-10
Tunze 5017
DIY algae tank scrubber
Dual reactor

Darn! Nice quality equipment— especially congrats going with Joe and the Glass Cages team. (You can tell I’m a fan, and had a great experience as well.)

Might you get a Lunare or Paddlefin Wrasse? Those babies are too cool for their own good! Lol. :)

As a little friendly advice— it seems you have done everything perfectly so far— don’t blow it now by rushing your stocking plan. An 80-gallon will fill up fast. I would spend HOURS looking online at all the big sites (LiveAquaria, etc), see what’s out there, and PLAN your dream stocking list. Also read all that you can about stocking multiple Wrasse (Do’s and Dont’s), including the “Search” feature on R2R. Again, and 80-gallon is a nice size... until you overstock it, and keep picking up that ‘one last fish’ at your LFS. It’s easy to find that your tank is filled and you never did get that one fish that you always hoped for, and now can’t add it.

Slow-and-steady here will build your dream! Following. :)

Thanks, it’s not my first tank. I’ve been working on the stock list for at least a year hahaha. Been there, done that with over stocking or wanting a different fish later on.

Got started on the plumbing tonight. I’m going to have to modify the sump a bit so I can run 1.5” into the sump, it’s going to be a tight fit in the sump area.

Also got the manifold together and need to pick up a few more pieces to put it in. Will be using that to run an ATS and a dual reactor(when needed). I may change up the return plumbing a bit as I would like to avoid any 90s in it.

I sure wish I didn’t forget to order loc line, had two months to get everything here before the tank and dropped the ball there

Changed up the return a bit. Can support the manifold with the center brace. Loc line showed up yesterday, hoping to start filling the tank later today!

Last of the items came in for the AWC system. Will be using a Dos to handle my awc. Picked up 3 Bashea ss-10’s.
Started filling the tank up late yesterday, will have it running in a few hours.

I’m loving this side view.
I plan to run the mp40 in the middle of the back of the tank, just need to pick up some zip tie mounts to help hold it in place.
Also need to notch the weir teeth for the loc-line returns, the random flow generators are sucking air. Other than the drain sock area the tank is really quiet. By far the most quiet tank I have ever had. Absolutely thrilled with the tank and @Joe Glass Cages

I can’t recommend these guys enough.
