We just had to do a little rescue mission in the screened in porch. Haha

cardinal flew it because the door was cracked open, he was too happy to be handled but we let him go quickly after my daughter gave him a little chest scratch. He is so pretty.

Looks like I get to hunt around my tank and sump for some rusting metal. I wonder if the aluminum is from the frame for my screen top. I figured my iodine may be low, waiting on some lugols to get here.

I just got done cleaning the sump out and checking everything that I could. No rusty metal or magnets that I can find. I’m leaning towards it being from my bare aluminum frame for the screen top.

I moved the p. Attenuatus and p. Mccoskeri to the display yesterday. I’ll keep them in the acclimation box for a few days before I release them.
Removing all the ceramic media from the sump caused a bit of a Dino bloom but things are getting under control.
I’m sending off another ipm test next week to see where the tin levels are at.

Elevated tin levels often comes from leaching out of plastic tubing and PVC in our sumps. It sounds like a strange source but I’ve read Randy mention it over the years. Do you have newer plumbing or dosing lines?

Yea I had read his post about that. I did change my dosing lines, so maybe it was that. I just sent out an ipc test and will update on the results.

Haven’t posted recently as I’ve been dealing with multiple types of algae from some frags I got in. When I was removing stuff and trying to find the source of tin I think I removed the ceramic media bricks too quickly and allowed the algae to take off.

The clownfish have finally laid again so we’re excited for that. They’re going to have a challenging time with all the wrasses. Haha
