I just got a g2 300 after leaving the hobby for a couple years. The tank is built, well, like a tank. The seams look good, the sides are the same thickness as front - 19?mm. Glass is clear and I like the new plumbing, sump layout and integration with reefmat.

I will know more in a few months I suppose but first looks, its a well built product.

Did you see any failures on the latest versions?
Yup. You can find plenty g2. Just search. People say it’s because they sell so many tanks, I don’t buy it nor do I care. When you search tank failures on this site, you are overloaded by Red Sea tanks.

I assume they fixed the issues that caused the Gen 1 failures so then its a matter of principle.

I don’t trust any rimless tanks myself. I’d like to see a return to fully framed tanks, or euro braced, besides just the budget brands. I also wouldn’t like all the splashing while cleaning the tank with a rimless. But I will never own a Red Sea tank.

I have had a 300 G2 running for 15 months. I'm happy with it. I also have a 170 pre G2 and am happy with it. It's been running for 3 or 4 years I think, can't remember exactly.
The seam issues appear to be getting fewer reports lately. I was going to add a 1000 a couple of months ago but went waterbox instead but only because I wanted 30" depth and RS did not offer it.
