So at surfn's suggestion I am moving the discussion of this to a new thread to avoid overcrowding the e-bay thread :) At this point I am trying to get a desired polyp count from each individual interested in joining in on this. Bryan has offered to make the frags ahead of time prior to sending them to me which is an absolute Godsend since then for those of you who will need them shipped it will be very straight forward. So please....those of you who want in on this....Kammy, surfn, azurel and anyone else I might be forgetting, speak up about your desired polyp count :) I've already mentioned that I would like ~15 polyps for my own collection :)

due to my current funding situation, i'm gonna have to ask, that you could get a frag for me (~5polyps is fine), and i will trade you something nice for that frag :D so if he can make you a seperate frag of 5polyps...that would be greeeeeeeaaaaaat!! :D

with all of these trades coming up, and the associated shipping costs, and the cost of these medical school applications i'm workin on, and on top of that getting ready to move, i really need to step away from buying corals and save money when i can at the moment.

i'll trade you a ~5polyp frag of RPE's (red people eaters), for a ~5polyp frag of the blue kisses? sound good?

Bryan hasn't given an exact price yet but I think he wanted to get a polyp count first. I know he said it would be reasonable and if Bryan says it will be reasonable then I have no doubt it will be a good price. Hopefully he'll pop his head in here and give us an answer :) Surfn, that sounds fine. I'd definitely be down for a trade. So just waiting on others to speak up......

Hey All,

I know I was looking at 10-15 polyps, but have a trade through Kam for some, I think for some PDs and cash.....So it would depend on her to, I guess. I do know I was looking for 10-15 though. Thanks ecotoxlady for putting this together...Thanks to Bryan for giving us a deal...

Hey Hey,

Welcome to the site Bryan! I'm glad to hear there are really some true collectors and lovers of zoas out there selling them. On the blue kisses, I'd like a good 10-15 polyp frag myself. Plus, I thought Id get a hold of some for Azurel since I know you love em and are a bit cash poor right now, and we can trade. Surfn, are you in that boat too? I can't remember. So I know for sure I'd want 10-15 and 10-15.

I'm a fragging virgin. Well not totally, I carved up my huge mass o'green palys, but they were kind of easy cuz they were growing over the substrate. I guess the safest thing to do would be to let Bryan do the fraggin if that is agreeable to him, and ship to Azurel. To save on shipping Karen and I's frags could be shipped together, and Surfn....if you wanna work out something in trade then same thing....Bryan could ship all 3 of our frags together and we could meet up to trade.

Whatcha guys think?

Kam

Hey Reefwifey, thanks for the welcome!

Ok, I got all caught up this morning on the posts, so I went out and made 8 frags. I won't know a true polyp count on them til they start opening later today, and then want to sit on them a week or two to be sure they are healthy after the cuts. Sometimes they don't blink, sometimes they cry :)

Most should have between 8-15 polyps though, I wish it was an exact science, but they kind of go with the flow of the snips.

Out of those 8, I'll pick the largest polyp count for the 5-7 pieces it looks like you may need for the group here.

How's $20 a frag sound?

@surfn - I came across these zoos just stumbling around looking for snails/shrimp/crabs/urchins down here in some of the local inlets. The neat thing about the East Coast of Florida (and maybe the west coast is the same), but every 50-100 miles south you'll find a different grouping of 3-5 distinct morphs....I've never seen some in other areas. What you can find up here closer to me, you won't find in the Keys, what you find in the Keys you won't find in West Palm etc. At least this has been my experience exploring the shallows with a snorkle...whatever lives in the deeper waters can remain there as I have a tad of a phobia about going deep. Anyway, that was a few years back, now I just wait for the call from the LFS and they tell me that a Florida collector showed up and I run down to see what they found :) I'm in Melbourne, about midway on the East coast between Cocoa Beach and Vero Beach.

Peace, Bryan

$20 a frag sounds wonderful to me Bryan, thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to have such a cool morph at a reasonable price.

Okay, this is gonna sound all....newbie/starry eyed/dorky but: How groovy is it that you actually like...dive in the water and look for zoas. I mean....obviously SOMEONE does...and that is how they end up in my tank, but I've just never talked to anyone who actually dives and loves zoas. It must be amazing to be able to swim around, hunting for stuff. Do you ever take pictures down there?

that sounds great! woot!!

bryan, i'm insanely jealous of you :D (but not for living in hurricane alley  )

i've heard of people in the keys, and bahamas out looking for some softie corals. and people all over florida going out to their back yard to collect turbo snails. but finding those zoas just about takes the cake WOW!

I don't think I could handle living down there....I would be diving in stead of at work all the time. There could be some trouble with the ability to go out and get stuff myself.....Thanks Bryan for the chance at these zoanthids...Again thanks to ecotoxlady for the hook up and getting the ball rolling.....Hey Kam thanks for doing this I know you will like the Purple Deaths.....

8) If they grow fast enough in Kammy's tank then I'll get some from her but otherwise we can work out a trade too....not a problem :)

something to keep in mind, we are gonna have to keep some of these ultra special trades on the down low, super top secret, otherwise all of those yahoos on RC will be filling up our PM boxes like crazy for some of this stuff if they knew we were trading with other people.
