Is there any of the tail left? Can't see on the pic bc the sand background. If the tail is all gone to where the skin starts it's very likely it's an infection.

There's a better pic. Doesn't look good brother. Tail and fin nips are usually irregular. The positive is that the other fins look healthy. You said he was eating fine?

And ur sure he could not have done tht making all his holes he dug out all the sand from under everyone of my rocks, and will an infection only stay on one fin I figured it would spread?

Yea none of the others are damaged and he eats alot

I was just replaying that the good news is that it hasn't spread so maybe is just the damsel. Keep a close eye on it and definitely take the damsel out. remove all the stress sources. He can very well still develop an infection specially if it is stressed.

Just feed the crap out of him, remove the damsel and watch him closely. that's what I'd do. I'm by no means an expert or even close to it. Hopefully some else chimes in.

not eating is the big one. But all you are looking for is other fish and crabs that try to mess with him.

Looks like his tail has literally been chopped/bitten off. Infection is possible, but for now I would just soak his food in vitamin supplements (Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem.) If the base of his tail starts to turn red or otherwise discolored, then you will need to QT and treat with antibiotics.

I wish u could see the damsel he's totally not aggressive the only time he gets mean is when the clowns he around his hole at the top of the rock structure

Melafix is an herbal remedy, not an actual medication/antibiotic. At best, it might help boost the fish's natural immune system. But I've never had any luck using that stuff.

Melafix will likely not fix the issue. If he's still eating, here's what I'd recommend.

Pick up some erythromycin by API. In a small container, put whatever food he's currently eating, a small amount of EM, and a couple drops of selcon. If you have a garlic additive, you can use that too since the taste of the meds can sometimes prevent fish from eating. Do not use the whole packet. 1 packet should cover 2-3 days of treatment. Stir that up and let it soak for 10-15 minutes before feeding. The more targeted you can feed, the better.

If he eats the treated food, he should fight off infection. Feed him treated food for 4-5 days and then see where he's at.

His tail is not red anymore he is still eating and it looks like his tissue is growing back he has also been moving around alot more if it does not get any better I will definitely give what u said a try

The goby decided to go carpet diving last night and right when his tail was doing better he jumped threw about half inch gap
