Pink Elephant

pinke_ele.jpg

- This paly is a chameleon as it takes different tones in different tanks. If you are lucky enough to have the right conditions you will find a paly with a light almost cotton candy pink skirt, deep green oral disc, with a beautiful purple/blue around the mouth. The mouth it self will be a lighter green/yellow to a white/tan color.

*** I don't have these zoas so it will be up to the CZ community to give us the best lighting, flow, feed or not, or any other info for this color strain.***

Lighting:
- Pink elephants can being under stronger lighting situations, but colors may fade a bit. Pink elephants are best place near the bottom to start

Flow:
- Pink elephants can tolerant medium to high flow situations as long as it doesn't cause them to close.

Feeding:
- No real feeding reaction.

Origins:
-

Growth Rate:
-

Rarity:
- Still a rather rare zoanthid strain so if you are able to find one at your LFS then grab it!

ID Confusions:
- Possibly the same as Crazy Daisy.

Other info:
-

Mine are a bit faded under MH and moderate flow... I have been meaning to move them under shade to see if they brighten up... Any suggestions? They came from Twon8's colony this summer... Thanks Twon!

i've had them look good under 400w 20k and 250w 14k, so they can handle some light.

Hmmm, I bet that is the issue- that side of my tank is 10k. I'll replace the light this week with 14k and see what happens...

Lighting
- I have mine on the bottom under 250w DE w/ 14k Phoenix bulb... one frag is about midway up.. my tank is about 18" deep so they can take some light but they tend to get faded a bit.. the pinkish skirt is much more pronounced on the bottom frag...

Flow
- I have moderate flow in my tank..

Feeding
- don't see any feeding reaction when I feed my tank...

Rarity
- somewhat rare because there was only one time that I saw them at LFS in my area.. there might've been only couple of nice colonies that was spread around the country during that time.. I hope they do get more in so we can all share this awesome morph...

ID Confusions
- there's two versions of this IMO.. another name I've seen these guys are Crazy Daisy, which I really believe they are the same.. I don't have the Crazy Daisies to compare them side by side but I know JGoslee does so hope he chimes in with pics of the two side by side..

Mine are from Miguel at FraggleReef. I think it is my favorite Paly (although I really like alot of the Palys)! They are under 175 watt 20K in a 20 long right now and they look pretty much like the ones on his site - pink skirt, fairly bright (but light) yellow blending into a grey/blue center with white mouth.

I got mine from Miguel about 7 months ago. Mine are slow growers. I keep them in high flow and towards the bottom.

I haven't had them too long to know exactly what they like. But I do have a baby forming already, so must be doing something right.:)
