So there's been a bit of debate on who's methods are working with there refugium's so I'll put out a macro challenge!

1st of the month trim up your cheato and post a picture or video and than post maybe weekly or biweekly.

Maybe post a description of how your sump and refugium works and what lighting / hardware your using.

Timming and updates Need not really matter as long as you post a picture within the first 3 days of the month and your end picture before the 3rd of the next month.

Let's see who can grow what in a months time! When you trim give yourself maybe half your sump for room to grow!

Might even get a prize if revhtree has something he can donate! Lol.

Heath, I think a fun and interesting challenge but.... this month will have to pass. Hopefully will be upgrading to the new 187g DT and possibly even be building a new sump/fuge since there will not be a better time to do so for some time. Annnnnnnd currently it is a Nursery for some Banggai Cardinal babies. I will follow along though as I certainly am a huge proponent of Refugiums, high flow and the bigger the better.

For info sake, my current setup is a 75g with a 36" x 18" refugium section and only a 12" x 18" area for Skimmer, heaters, probes and two small Eheim pumps for GFO Reactor and Frag Tank. I run a mix of mostly Caulerpa mexicana and Chaetomorpha but have a couple small pieces of surviving macro from Hawaii. Also have a 2"+ sand/mud bed and maybe 15# of LR. Huge bio-diversity with a variety of Stars, Snails, Limpets, Worms, Mysid Shrimp, Pods, a few small Hawaiian Hermits and a pair of Pistol Shrimp I also brought back from Kauai. For flow I have approx 1050+- gph going through plus an old Koralia 3? to keep macro healthy.

Cheers, Todd

Okey day we'll let's hold off for this month and come back to this. Let a few more people get setup to play! We can try to do April. Kinda silly but should be interesting a tiny bit!

I'm in the middle of an upgrade but I'll be happy to post pics of growth in a few weeks. I know I have grown it from the size of an orange to the width of a 5 gal bucket in a few weeks before. Would love to see what growth others get. Great idea looking forward to being a part of the growout and seeing the results.

Well guys I couldn't wait anymore on cutting mine. It wouldn't spin anymore and had my wp 10 smashed and stopped. Ha. So I chopped about half out. Was enough that the lfs gave me a 50 dollar credit.

Uh it's like a 15" cube. I had a 1 gallon ice cream container stuffed. Like crammed in there. Lid barely went on.

Supply and demand. I guess he's having a hard time getting it. He also knows my tank is clean so he doesn't have to worry about it carrying apistasia or ich. Plus I spend a lot there. I try not to order online. It's important to me that they stay open.

I'll be in for April too and with my chaeto sandwich idea, it will be easier to show results! I don't know if I'll make the entire month without harvest though.lol.
