Hey what happened to the chaeto grow out?

Just keep being 2 lazy! I keep meaning to document my growth rates. I really need to get it done. My growth is amazing in my mind. Idk.

Ok I cut mine in half on Tuesday but here's a short video from tonight. I'll do a weekly video to show my growth.

Just trimmed it down to about 3/8" on my chaeto sandwich on both sides. What you see is about 1 month or less growth. We will see how it goes!

So it's been 2 weeks for me and the fuge is full. my wp 10 will no longer make the ball spin. It touches all sides and the bottom of the fuge. Time to cut in half.

I'd like to play along too:) Here's my fireball fuge. I too am running gyre flow through the fuge to keep the macro tumbling. I use the dragons tongue because it doesn't break and it's slimey so detritus doesn't stick to it. There's also some chunks of codium bouncing around in there too. I just trimmed a quart ziplock bag stuffed full last week. Should be ready to trim again next week.

Or you could put the chaeto in an egg crate sandwich and flip it periodically, like I do. It kind of works like an ATS, but with chaeto instead. I used to roll chaeto, but it always gets stuck as it grows.I placed the idea in DIY sub forum.[emoji4]

At about 2:10 he talks about the Cheato they are running and the lights they used. Apparently they got pretty good results, and are planning on doing a series of tests on different lighting combos to see what kind of growth and nutrient uptake they can get. Everyone should comment on what they would like to see done on the test. I would like to see the Kessil they have, cheap lowes style CF lights everyone uses, the Floralux 150W that d2mini runs, and maybe a DIY using Luxeon ES Deep Reds and SemiLED Hyper Violet V3.0 LEDS (popular LED combo for an ATS).

What do you guys think?

Sounds like they grabbed the spirit from this thread and are running with it. Or atleast that was my goal. I just wanted to see what others results were from differnt methods. I know my method is working well for me. I've read threads with others having great success also. Than again I've seen people say they can't get cheato to even stay alive and it had me wondering.

I trimmed my chaeto on April 3, just trimmed it again yesterday, so a little over a months time and here's the growth;

I'm just using a 100 w daylight CFL bulb. In A reflector. I think part of the key is using a powerhead to spin the cheato and push good flow through it

This is about 6 weeks of growth from a softball sized ball.
