So I recently moved from Corryton near Gibbs to Greenback south of Maryville. We moved into a beautiful large house on 14 acres and love it!

The best part about the house is the 1400 square foot unfinished basement!

Here is the corner I plan to convince the wife should be a fish room so that the living room doesn't have a noisy tank and stand etc.

I will have a 34g cube in a corner of the dining room that is plumbed down into the fish room.

Here is a pic of the basement from the other angle :

Create list of plumbing needed.

Build stand

Build platform

Plumb

Install Rodi unit

Paint fishroom floor

Love this. while I have my sump in my garage, a dedicated fish room in a basement would be a dream come true for me.

Ok, so between last night and tonight I tested my carpentry skills while working on a stand and platform.

Here is the first result of the stand with a black drape on it for quick access.

Here is the vat stand holding a 150g rubbermaid and my old 55g sump that I might leave there as a QT. The platform is 4 X 6 feet and could hold 2 vats.

I came home this evening to finish installing my BRS RODI system.

udyhupe6.jpg

I placed it where it is for 2 reasons... 1. Right under the kitchen sink to be plumbed for use there, because I told the wife I purchased it for filtering our drinking water.
2. Easy access to the vats and servicing.

So I messed around a little bit with spare plumbing pieces and decided to drill my 3/4 return hole for kicks and giggles. Needless to say I made a mess.

This shot below is taken looking down through the bottom of the tank.

emy6u3yr.jpg

Do you see the issue? My finger is pointing to where the closest edge of my 1 inch drain line from the tank should go. This means when I drill down I will actually drill through the cross board. Thoughts on how to avoid that?

Farther away shot...

Well I got some more work done on the plumbing of the tank!

Here is a shot of the angle work under the stand to make sure and miss the support rib beneath the floor!

Here is what it looks like in the basement coming down through the floor.

Here is the view of where they will run to/from.

As you can see, there is not a lot of room left over after adding in unions, ball valve, drain line T with its own shut off valve, and reducer from 1" to 3/4" for the return.

yvedu4uj.jpg

The reason for the unions is so I can remove the pump if needed for maintenance or replacement, I wanted to make it easily removable and accessible down the road.

The reason for the T and shut off is to drain excess water out of the line if I have to pull the pump off line or I can use that for water changes as well.
