Hobby Name: Armor of God (AoG)
Scientific Name: Palythoa sp.
Description: Bright metallic Red stripped oral disc, sometimes showing a bluish center, with a white mouth and platinum skirt.
Care Level: Easy; very tolerant of changing water conditions within acceptable tolerances.
Light Requirements: Moderate to High; lighting will change the coloration of the oral disc.
Flow: Low to High; like most palys this one seems to prefer higher flow rates - enough to wave the skirt around in the flow, but not direct enough to cause it to close up.
Feeding: While some hobbiests note a feeding response from this paly, feeding is not required.
Origins: Steve Trieu
Namer: Mr. Ugly (Norman)
I. D. Confusions: This paly is often confused with Devil's Armor and Goochsters
Other Info: The red can vary from orange to pinkish in color depending on lighting. The bluish center also becomes more distinct or fads dependent on lighting and/or water chemistry.
This polyp was named for its resemblance to a flaming shield; with its bright red pinstriped oral disc and wavy silvery-grey tentacles.
