Any help with an ID on this???
Found this this morning, I noticed the base looking like it was dying yesterday but I was to busy to mess with it.
I removed it, swabed and checked it under the microscope. I have no ideas on what I'm looking at but it doesn't look good.
Hi,
I am relatively new to salt water reef tanks. I got a 80 gallon tank for free luckily about 8 months ago. About a month and a half ago I noticed very tiny like shrimp bug things and did some research and saw posts about centipods, amphipods etc and thought maybe this was them. But I am not...
Anyone know the species ? Saw them walking all over a few mushrooms (these guys are same size as tisbe pods) I also saw them eating dinoflagellates (can only see them under strong magnification)
One of the mushrooms was closed for a few days - upon inspection noticed these white bugs crawling...
Okay so I finally got the right kind of interceptor for my black bug issue. Let's hope this works. They are on my zoa's most of my montipora and some acros. They have killed my forest fire digis after smothering them. I've used coral rx and the Bayer stuff to kill them and I saw how many there...
Hi all,
Very new to the salt water hobby and have no idea what these things are. Both have been found today (at night if that helps).
One is a little bug and there seems to be a few of them. Large enough to see comfortably, roughly 1cm.
One looks to be a worm/ tentacle with legs potentially...
I’ve discovered there is some sort of inscect living under my gsp frag have only noticed it today I’m new to the hobby and never dipper my coral before placing them in my reed can someone please explain what this is and a solution if necessary thanks
Hello,
I'm (once again) struggling with poor PE and some tissue loss on my Acropora.
First of all my tank parameters and my setup:
430L Tank Volume
Very recent ICP:

KH, CA and Po4 are fairly stable and I measure about the same as the ICP...

My favorite torch started to retract a bit recently, and after dark I shined a light on it to see these little critters. Gave it a good dip and moving it to the bottom of my sandbed to recover until I get it into a clean tank I'm starting. Does anyone know what these are? I don't have acropora...
I just recently noticed these. Seems like my clown fish are eating them, maybe?!
I did drop a cube of PEMYSIS in last night because my new clown fish seem to not like pellets, but that is a different discussion!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Should I be concerned?
Thanks,
I've been following this forum for a couple of years, but never posted before. Today when I did my water change, I found several of these black bugs crawling on the filter socks in the sump. Is this a copepod (didn't think they were black) or something more nefarious? Thanks for any help.
I’ve been battling amphidinium dinoflagellates for a while now and just noticed some small round bug-like creatures running around on the Dino’s, I’ve never observed anything like this, they move quite quickly but not like copepods do, any ideas?
Hello! Is anyone able to identify these brown spots on the base of my torch coral? I’ve been dealing with receding flesh on all my torches and I thought it was a phosphate problem (hence the heinous amount of hair algae) but I’ve got that down to a manageable level and the flesh on torches is...
Hello! Over the last couple months Ive noticed a couple of these black/brown specs crawling around like bugs and for some reason the first coral I noticed them on has been having very slow tissue recession but still has great polyp extension for now, however I noticed it receding more and...
I couldn’t figure out why my Duncan is receding so I put my camera on it for 9 minutes with flow on and off throughout. Tiny pods like creatures are running around at the base and I think those are what is irritating it. Does anyone know what these are?
Hello,
2 weeks ago I noticed that tiny creatures (about 1mm length) in my tank and now there is a plenty of it. They live in sand and they mostly appear at night moving quickly even over rocks.
Can you help me identify these organisms?
Late at night if I focus my vision on a single rock I’ll eventually notice these little critters. They kind of look like little bugs. Any clue as to what they are? Are they an issue or just beneficial biodiversity to the system?

Hi all,
I’ve had my reef tank for about three months and yesterday I saw a pink rice size thing floating past me in the water. It looks like a piece off a torch coral tentacle for the cooor and thickness. But this morning, I noticed it has attached to my glass and Found a second one. I’ve...
Bought a new hammer coral today and noticed at home it has black dots/patches on its skeleton. Gave it a dip and scrubbed lightly around the black spots and two little bugs came out which I'm having trouble identifying with Google. Could use some help and any info on why the skeleton has black...
