Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Did you test?
Nope. I never test in the small tank. I do weekly water changes and go off on how things look. All corals look happy.

I use a shorter one and zip tie a plastic basket to the handle.
I needed the height, remember I’m a shrimp. Also I tend to knock things over and drop them so flat surfaces Tray was a must.

The fact I didn’t crash into the tank and crack it in these last 5 months is a miracle. lol

Can u give me a bit of detail on the feeding? What were his antagonists?
Needs to eat 4 or 5 times a day.
Will pick at nori/pods. Live brine, frozen brine.
Mine passed from starvation I think after I added tang/angel. They just ate too fast. He couldn't compete.
He was a darling fish.
Very intelligent/with it.
I was sad when he passed.
They are very very passive so all fish can scare them.

Definitely water change won't hurt
Replace pads/carbon.
You also want to get into the habit of testing. While corals are a good indicator if something is wrong, they don’t always tell you till it’s too late.

I only have one thing of carbon. And I have a new filtration pad coming for the hang on the back filter. Should I remove the bio balls that are in the filter and get new ones?

Only thing I got in the tank is a bunch of anemones and some xinia.

Hmmm, ok. I have the luxury of being home all day so multiple feedings won’t be an issue. I just have the one tang, decided no more for that very reason. I’ll go over my stocking list with LFS to see if it’s prudent or not.
Thanks Joel; appreciate the details

I'd dump it all.
Just replace pads and stuff soon/when you can.
If there's a pad in there now trash it, just let it run without until new one comes.
Buy some bulk pad, cut to fit then you'll always have some.
I never run stock pads. ;)

Yes, still animals - test bi-weekly for now
What should I test for?
I don’t think anemones consume calcium and mag so can I skip out on that?
Just test alk and nitrate

I'd get 10 more if I could. ;)
Cool fish in every way.
Go for it.

Ammonia for a bit.
Alk, nitrate, phos, ph.
Ph hard in small tank like that.

I have these coming on Monday.
I don’t have any new bio balls. I have a bunch in the big tank. Should I put some into the small filter?
