What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
To bad he was a great guy, he let me on his boat behind behind two zebras.
He should've let you walk in front of them. Not a true friend. I dont like the idea of you being stuck behind some zebras.

I just made the joke you were old enough 🤣 this is perfect

I'm trying to figure out how I want to set this new tank up gfci wise.. I dont want a single gfci controlling everything, just to come home and find my tank DOA
If you can split the power to two different GFCIs, better, put flow on one, return on the other. Use self-resetting GFCIs not 'construction' non-resetting GFCIs. That way if you have a power outage the GFCI will reset. Construction GFCIs, the most common ones at big box stores, must not self-reset as you don't want something like a power saw suddenly turning back on.

You got something pretty bright green right by the dendros. Doesn't seem to have anything for polyps though. Must be some sort of smooth skins acro
It looks like a child's drawing of a cactus. Lol

I'm changing it though. I bought a lightly-used Meridian 35 that will replace the 2 AI Primes and the 11" Meridian. I'll decide on the Blades later on. If the tank is bright enough they go. If it needs more light or a better balance they will stay for now but I hope to replace them with ReefBreeder Edges down the road.

The Meridian 35 was my carrot for successfully, at least so far, completing my medical procedure. I put off buying anything big for almost a year waiting until the procedure was behind me.
You a big fan of meridians? I know vintagereefer likes them. I was looking at 2 reefi uno pro 2.1. Pretty sure that'll be my carrot for getting my master electricians license. Or shortly thereafter lol. I havemt gone very long since my last big purchase though lol

So I got my new tank setup with saltwater from my 120.. Just noticed these things floating in the bottom. I assume came out of the back chamber from somewhere? Looks like DI resin or something? Im assuming from some sort or chemipure or something of the likes? Would you guys be worried about it? There's not really a lot. I could siphon whats in the picture. Its just what I cant see in the back.

All the lighting you could ever need! I promised momma I would wait till the new babies born before dumping a bunch of money on lights. (Taking some real willpower haha)
Babies!?

How does a self resetting one work? Trip for 30s then try turning back on? I didnt even know self resetting gfci were a thing!

Sorry, baby's not babies haha. I'd probably be selling my tank to hire a personal assistant if it was twins! I have one little boy on the way. Not two lol

I won't really know until the big one is on the tank but everything under the 11" one looks better than the stuff under the Primes. I like the color but right now it is balanced to blend with the Primes so it is too soon to say I like them but I do have the expectation that I will like them.

I think the Reefi Unos, especially the 2.1s are one of the best deals in reefing and every tank I've seen with them looked good. I got a pretty good deal on the Meridian which helped me make the decision. If I was starting from scratch I would probably go either Meridian or Reefi Uno, not really sure which way I would jump. Then again, I'm a big fan of Kessil...

Thing hard part is that its such an investment. Its not like you can just buy one and change your mind and buy a different one like its no big deal. Also, very few LFS seem to invest that kind of money into lights. At least out my way. So you cant even see them in person. My LFS all use cheap black box lights

No if it trips it stays off but if it is unplugged or there is a power failure it turns back on when power is restored. They are used with things like pressure washers. From a safety standpoint construction GFCIs cannot turn back on by themselves, there is too much chance for accidents.

Look for self-resetting in the description. That way, if you are out and you have a power failure the tank will still turn back on when the power is restored.

I'm a little luckier. One of my LFSs runs Kessil, one runs Hydras, one runs Radions and I don't remember the others.

Oh ok! That makes more sense! I was like "the gfci trips then turns back on? Seems counter intuitive!" Lol
