What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?

Hey @Rocks reef or to any people with experience with higher par LPS! I know you keep your LPS, torches, etc. at pretty high par. Do you have sections that are lower par where you place them initially to acclimate to the higher power light and then move them around or do you have low sections of your tank that are lower par. I did a par map of my tank and the light is pretty powerful even on the sand bed. In the corners I do get less par but assuming I keep the SPS towards the top of the rock would it be reasonable to keep LPS in that front sand bed by slowly acclimating them to the higher par? I could start them out in the back left corner moving them to the front corners which has higher par and then moving them to higher light over time, etc. How long should someone take to acclimate the coral to the higher light. Like should I give them 4-5 days in one spot and then move them. I assume Acros can take the 500 par as well.

Do you need the par that high even on the high rock areas? Im assuming SPS are an end goal? If you're going with a mixed reef, you have to walk a fine line of par, flow, and nutrients as they almost prefer completely opposite parameters and conditions basically. So you're going to have to find a happy medium and walk that line.

Eventually you'll get some shading from coral growth. And that my help down the line too.

That's the way! If something is not happy, then ill reluctantly move it. Anytime I add a coral, I have decided on a permanent home before I purchase it.
 
I have everything in a 40 gallon breeder which was initially meant to be a rock cycling tank... well I filled that up pretty quick. Anyway... I ramped my intensity up over the course of a month. Now when I introduce a new torch, I put it in a little less PAR then move it in a week or two. When I say a little less PAR I mean just off to the side a bit since I don't really have much room in my tank. It may only get 50 less PAR... maybe 25... LOL!

As you can see, I’m running out of room.

Yeah. I likely will start with some easier SPS like a birdsnest or something like Forest Fire Montipora digitata to make sure the system is stable for Acros. The lights are actually moved back some and not directly centered on the tank & if I move them any higher then when I sit near the tank the light spills over even with light shades. I think in this tank my main interested are just SPS & a bit of LPS.
 
Well it's been too long since we inundated Smorgville with 3d printer content so here goes.

@Üter, thanks for your suggestion on the Dremel. I have a half dozen of the things and it never even occurred to me to use it. I'm using this bit (I just noticed this is pretty badly out of focus--taken pre caffeine infusion) on a small cordless Dremel to grind away the PETG as far as possible.

It didn't occur to me until I was taking the fotos this morning that there is no need to be careful of the nozzle or heating element as they are both thoroughly trashed anyway.

This was the progress after about 30 minutes. I really like the Bambu quick swap nozzle system, when everything is working, but I consider the A1 system to have some serious design flaws. Everything in the toolhead is dependent on removing the nozzle for disassembly. I can't even remove the part fan because you need to loosen the extruder to remove the cable but you can't remove the extruder because the nozzle is inserted into it. I could go Full Monty on the toolhead but that would require a lot of fiddly work and recalibration and all that would give me is clearer access to the nozzle area to really hit with with the micro torch which should be arriving any time now.

I was thinking that. Maybe he was showing the PAR with his lights maxed out. I mean, I am all for higher PAR, but some of those numbers would cook even the highest light loving acros after about 5-6 hours. There is a point where photo inhibition comes into play.
