Nice build and nice thread.

Your tank is basically the bigger brother to my 68 cube; Optiglass, euro bracing (i've got the glass lid covers), i think its possibly the same maker - eastern european perchance?

How have you got on with the height? Mines currently empty waiting on me finishing the stand, so nothng has been in it yet but just thinking of putting my aquascape in fills me with terror, feels like a long way down at just 68cm.

Our builds are so similar, even down to automation; mines knee deep in esp32s on pretty much everything.

Anyhoo, i better crack on and get this stand finishedish today before this storm rolls in, im building the stand outside and the gazebo wont withstand 90mph winds :o

The tank was custom built to my design by a fairly local tank builder. The depth makes it hard work to access low down but I knew that would be the case. Either tools or a ladder with shirt off needed! Good luck with your own build, it’s a lot of work 😀

Some tech stuff. Monitoring software runs on a pi 500 and is custom written in C++. It outputs html readable from anywhere on the internet by any device. No apps! I will state without apology that commercial aquarium off the shelf level control kit is not reliable enough for serious use long term. That is working for years without failure and being suitable for absent operation while the owner travels the world. Hence there are industrial relays controlling level with titanium adjustable probes all in the custom holder. It just works. That’s the primary system which is of course totally duplicated with a 1 cm lower backup level 😀. I will also state that commercial level monitoring kit is even worse in my experience. So the system has an industrial level sensor which works well, zero maintenance, zero failures, measures level within a couple of mm reliably. All is fed via modbus into the pi. Modbus kit allows me flexible system development over time, there will be a lot more control systems added, though never heating or top up. Not the way to go to achieve reliability. The left hand cupboard section contains some standard kit. Return pumps are duplicated. A third pump feeds up to the loft fish room above. A tank there allows large water changes without involving the display room at all. In time water change can be automated. The tank up there is fed with two part and in time more will be done up there 😀
