well I picked up a couple of ten gal aquariums one with light fixture and a box of other neat junk all for $4 at a yard sell yesterday, thought I would try to make a sump for my 10 gal nano I started a few weeks back. Got four pieces of glass 9 &7/8" x 7" today at the local hardware store for $4.50 to make my baffels and a tube of 100% silicon caulk, will try to take a couple pics and let ya'll see how bad I can mess this up. anyone got any good ideas for a small protien skimmer? How about some words of encougament since I broke one of the tanks this morning getting it out of the truck. Slipped and hit the corner of the tool box. duh, just my luck.

Well dog. hate you broke your tank. PM H@rry and see if he can send you a link to his "ghetto" skimmer.

baffle protector

here is my ideal, I took some airline tubing, split it with a pair of scissors, and added a bead of silicone to the top edge of the baffles, to try and prevent cut fingers, what do you think? last pic shows the diff.

new skimmer

well after picking up a fifty doller pump, about thirty five dollers worth of fittings, and scratching my head on how to build a cheap skimmer for my new sump, { not that cheap when you add up all the smal stuff glue hole saw etc etc} I went by lfs this afternoon and found a skimmer and pump on clerance for 100. the pipe fittings and pump going back to lowes for a refund, skimmer pulled out of box, dropped in sump and skimming, so much for diy. will post pics soon.
