I am getting dialed in on all the components I am including in my tank and have a good general idea of how I want to run my tank.

I have a 120 display with external overflow and 40 gallon sump. Will be a mixed reef. I have a refugium section but initially I will just be putting some sand and rock into it. I'm looking for some guidance/opinion on how you would set this tank up with the given equipment. I am going to be using a hydros controller. I think I will start with a Hydros Launch and grow from there if needed. I'm mostly interested in where you would plug things in, and what would you control with Hydros vs its own controller. For example a return pump can use its own controller or run through the hydros. Budget is important but setting up right is a top priority. I will list what I have and how im thinking of running it and want your feedback

Controller:

Hydros launch: 110 outlets: Skimmer, temp controller, return pump. I might run out of room but would rather run some stuff on its own then buy the xp8 right off the bat.

Sensors/probes: Skimmer level, Temp, PH, rope leak detector, ATO

Drive ports: ATO pump, Kalkwasser dosing pump

In the display:

2 Nicrew 150's with Nicrew controller. Planning on running these on their own and not through hydros
2 wavemakers, brand and specs TBD running on their own controller. I dont want to need to buy the wave machine but maybe in the future

In the sump:

Protein skimmer with hydros skimmer level sensor. brand TBD: Im thinking a DC skimmer but I need to do more research.
2 300 watt heaters plugged into temp controller
Jebao smart return pump.
ATO Pump
Kalkwasser dosing pump

Let me know your thoughts/suggestions. Thanks!

When you setup the output for you heater controller set both the turn on and turn off set point higher than the turn off set point in the heater controller. Then the Hydros will act as a backup off for your heater controller. I have a build thread on here and it has lots of info on my Hydros setup. I now have 15 Hydros controllers in my main collective. I have several at the tank and several in the garage with my RODI unit and mixing station. Just click on the "My Tank Tread" banner in my post to get to the build thread. Go to page 6 post #119 to get to the first Hydros post. I got a X4 Starter kit as the first Hydros controller. As new features and controllers were added I posted about it so there are lots of screenshots and text on things I did and added to the system over the years I have had it.
