120g Standard Mixed Reef

Hi very nice looking tank. If not yet know or heard of, just a note of mild warning on the Regal .... once they get larger, maybe double current size or so of yours, they can go rogue ! A fellow reefer i know had one in his 180g with probably 3 to 4x growth of various corals that you now have - yes it was a stunning tank also. The regal was one of his first fish in the new tank and it grew up with the tank & corals over several years with no problems of eating coral ..... then one day it had a coral buffet feast and ate everything pratically, consuming several thousand dollars worth of coral in one feeding ! The amazing thing about this guy was that this Regal was also his favorite because of the fishes beauty & personality & because the Regal grew up with the tank ...... and even after eating most all the corals, the guy still loves his Regal and it is still his favorite fish in his mostly coral bare tank now. Now that's a fish lover !!! Happy Reefing !

Thanks for the warning, I know that it’s definitely a risk... hopefully he behaves but if not, we will cross that bridge when we get there.

I’ve been thinking about him probably needing a larger tank long-term anyway, maybe I’ll set up a FOWLR in my basement eventually ;)

Sure thing ☺ .... however i have to update my post with a sincere apology to you & all the wonderful Regals of the world. After double checking this coral eater was a Royal (or Emperor) Angelfish ! Again apologies & all the best with the tank & thanks for the great posting & info you've shared

Oh yea, emperor angels are known for turning SPS into calcium reactors lol My H wants one so bad... another good reason for a FOWLR tank ;)

Got a shot with most of the gang:

And not as clear of a video because I had just finished scraping the glass trying to clean up some of the coralline... but the new copperband is getting a nice belly and eating much more aggressively. Also started picking at the algae clip with the others.

Beautiful.
The tank is maturing nicely.
Still sticking to the same routine?

For the most part. Manual dosing 2-part, water change every week or two, 24/7 skimming, chaeto refugium.

I have been feeding a bit more frozen food with the copperband in the tank, so far I haven’t seen any negative impact and my nutrient levels were bordering on non-existent anyway... so hopefully I don’t live to regret it ;)

Those frozen nutrient will be happily received by the refugium and corals.
Specially if they were bottomed out already.

I am very much amazed by that copperband.
Such a beauty.

I am too, he’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. And as an added bonus, I do think he’s started working on the aiptasia as well... I’ve noticed my overflow is clean of all the smaller ones that I couldn’t reach, and he always has his nose in the nooks and crannies in the rock.

Now, I just have to figure out a way to get back there with the aiptasia-x to take out the big ones he won’t eat.

Leave the big ones for now.
As soon as the tank is out of small ones, he might start picking on the big ones as well.
He is such gentleman with an appetite. ;Brb

End of the week photo dump!

Little clown decided to be hosted by the trumpets which is kind of cute

Always with the beautiful images. Love it.

Just came back from camping all weekend... I’m always holding my breath walking back in the door after being away.

But, everything looked good and doser seems to be working fine, everything tested right on par:
