This thread has been a long time coming so I'm shorten the back story and this will be mostly a story moving forward from this point on. Growing up my parents had a freshwater tank and an outdoor koi pond. Once I moved out on my own I've at least 1 freshwater tank up and running and as many as 4 at one time. In 2021 I decided it was time to make the move to turn my 75 gallon into a salt tank with a 55 gallon sump and wanted it to stand out more than just a salt tank so I built a wall around it. That experience was short lived tho as I upgraded to a 125 gallon tank in July of 2022 so wall got restructured for the new setup installed. Here's how that setup looked....

In Dec 2023 I moved 10mins down the road from this location. With a open livingroom/kitchen layout what else do you do than build another wall where tank is seen from kitchen and livingroom....

I'll get fresh pictures tomorrow as lights are out now and tomorrow happens to be a year after these pictures was taken just realized as I was posting these. I'll get pictures of full tank layout tomorrow as well. Thanks for having me here really been lurking on posts for the last few weeks again. Glad to finally decide to make a build thread to keep up with my growing tank super excited to compare pictures tomorrow. Ive got plenty of questions moving forward as im done looking at the same empty tank for the last year. Really want to make more head way this year as I live in a mountain county in Virginia closest pet store is 30mins to a petco closest non petco is over an hr away. Im going to a concert in Greensboro North Carolina first weekend of march and plan to hit up a couple reef shops ive found online in that area. Any tips, suggestions, questions are welcome as I'll answer to the best of my ability as I'm a newbie in my opinion it's the least I can do in return of all the questions I'll have for you guys and gals. 1000006520.jpg

Anyone can configure a tank. Building a wall around it is the extra mile! Ahahaha

Looks great, Congrats. :)

The zoas took off then started disappearing and now making a com back. Duncan has went from one head to three. Palythoa has grown several more heads. Can't see it as well in pictures as in person but the fish and shrimp have diffently grown.

if you have the information can I ask what the supplied you used and the dimensions you used to frame everything? I just bought a house and we have a center wall for a tv and I would like to add a fish tank under it. I’m just not fully positive on how to built it. I can see your images but i would like to be certain. If you can share anything that would be great and if not no worries. Thank you.

Sorry im so late seeing this. You've probably got this figured out by now but i used all 2x4's. They got from floor to ceiling on both ends and the they run how ever long you want the wall. Then for my 6ft tank theres boards under thw edge of both ends of the tank and 2 evenly divided between the 2 end ones all 4 running the width of the tank. Then i have support 2x4's from floor up to bottom of tank again i think i have 4 supports on each side of the tank. Above the tank just depends on what you want done above it rather you want storage or nothing just wall. Again sorry about the late reply would love to see how you did yours and im back on here daily now and have notifications turned on if you have any questions ill do what i can to help.

Very impressive. Looks like you have the art-of-the-in-wall-tank thing down to a science. Time to move house again? (Lol!)

Best feature is auto closing shades from dining room side to block out late night Lighting!
Nice all my shades stay closed anyway. Theres only one window in whole house that doesnt have shades which just happens to be in the kitchen but its just a small window over the sink that's half covered with curtain

Well I didn't mean shades that block out light from the exterior of the house it closes the aquarium off from light in the kitchen or dining room not sunlight
I was tired of kids going in the kitchen at like 11 o'clock at night and lighting up the whole tank by turning on the kitchen lights
