We just did a Moment of Silence here at TD bank. While I didn't lose anyone directly, it is still a very emotional moment.
I remember I was in college right over the Brooklyn Bridge at City Tech, where there was a clear view to the Towers on fire and smoking, you could hear sirens blaring constant as all the Officers and Fire Fighters/EMT raced to the Trade Center.
The first Historical disaster in my Generation that hit home.
