I'm in the process of building a 180g tank. It has dual overflows in each corner. I plan on doing a Herbie overflow using the 4 drains and then drilling 2 holes in the back panel for the returns.

I was going to get a full lifereef system but decided to go a different route. I plan on using either a trigger 34 or 39 sump using the middle chamber has a refugium. The tank is going to be LPS dominant.

Question is:

1) what size return pump should I use? I am under the understanding that you do not want a lot of flow going through the sump.

2) What skimmer should I get? I know everyone one has theit own opinion on skimmers but would like to hear what other people are using on a similar set up.

Thanks for all of the help!

Lol yeah I'm a little dissapointed no one responded.

I ended up getting a dcp-10000 return pump, trigger 39 sump and a regal 200sss skimmer

All very nice choices. It's a little late on the answer but I would have done a Sicci Syncra 5.0 pump, Aquamax Q series skimmer, and built the sump from a 40 breeder with petco $1 per gallon sale and then bought the baffles from a glass shop $18bucks, silicone $4.
