Looking at diving into salt after keeping fresh for years and always being interested but anxious of the salt side. Will be getting a 78l/21usG aio tank to begin with while I learn this side of the hobby, although I have been endlessly researching thjngs for the past month.
I have settled roughly on a stocking of
Clown
Royal gramma
Firefish
Blenny (tailspot/bicolour/midas)
goby/pistol combo
2 x trochus snail
2 x turbo snail
2 x astrea snail
5 x hermits
3 x zombie snail
Cleaner shrimp
2/3 x Sexy shrimp
Tuxedo urchin in future
My immediate question is if this is a suitable stocking or if I need to cut some things out.
Then itd be about the order of introduction. My plan is to buy the dry rock months before the tank, to properly glue/create a rockscape and then put it into a bucket/tub with a wave maker/heater and treat it with bacteria and ammonia until cycled and then continue dosing ammonia to keep the bacteria going until the tank.
Once cycled and then held for a couple months I would guess i could likely setup the tank and start stocking. My research has lead me to a rough plan of
Adding 1 fish (likely clown) on setup (with cycled rock)
Then adding maybe 1 or 2 more fish 2 weeks later with continued clear tests, and continue on that repeating timing? Likely after a couple fish, the lights being on after a few weeks i could start adding maybe half the CUC at first. Continue with the fish until stocked, and then the rest of the CUC?
After the 2-3 months this process would take i would then start testing for calcium, alk and phos and then maybe start adding corals, again I would presume 1 at a time eith time between to ensure the parameters are suitable and consistent?
Is this a decent enough guide for myself to follow and obviously adapting times according to any highs/lows of nitrates etc.
