2 part question

I started dosing the ESV 2-part 2 weeks ago. The tank is 72g + 20g sump and almost 2.5 yrs old with mostly lps and a couple sps. I decided to try 16ml a day of each spread out over 8 hrs while the lights are on. When I started the cal was 385 and alk 6.1. For the first week the alk rose daily roughly 0.3 and cal maintained 390. Once the alk reached 8.15-8.30 it has stayed there. My question is, why would the alk level off like that?

The demand has matched the amount your dosing would be my guess. 8.3 is a good point to keep it at. If when it starts dropping increase your dose slightly to keep it in that range.
