So far....
January:
On my way to attend a good friend's memorial service, I broke a crown.
"Luckily" my insurance changed in the 1st, and I only had to pay 50% to get it replaced; $800 out of pocket.
The memorial went well, if you like fantasy, it was for John A. Pitts.
The morning after someone broke into my car; they took my back pack which was under my seat, my new tire chains, that included the receipt (the store has no way to know if they returned them for cash), and some other stuff. I had about $150 in Dungeons and Dragons books in my pack. Far worse was my dice; I had the dice from the 1st role playing game I bought with money from chores back in '78. And most of the other games I've bought over the years too. Along with the 'normal' dice that my grandfathers' had when they were in the Navy in WWII, and some dice my dad had when he was in the Air Force in Vietnam. They were the only thing I had from my maternal grandfather. Most likely it all got tossed into a garbage bin and is in some dump somewhere. Foolish them, a lot of my dice are now collectors items, and the entire set of 200 or so is worth about $2000 or $3000. My insurance deductible though, wouldn't cover that.
Late January, my roommate got sick, and I picked up it up about 2 weeks later. I spent almost all of February sick. I used up what sick time I had, but "luckily" I was able to use a week's vacation to cover more of the time I spent ill. (That week was MACNA btw). I'm guessing the flu; I get the shot every year, but the flu mutates fast, and I got the short end of the stick.
Early March, I had 2 slow leaks in my tires; they find a screw in 1, and the other had a bent stem. I moved in October; my former neighbors and I got into once when they backed into my car and took off. In front of me. When I was walking my dogs. I suspect the screw wasn't an accident since I found other screws and nails on the ground near my parking spot.
I got sick again in March. The 2nd vacation time spent was GenCon (think MACNA for people who play D&D and games like it), and about 1/2 of my trip home in September to visit my family back East. At this point, I don't know if it was a different strain of the flu, or maybe COVID. I also had a sinus infection that was found during my follow up MRI from a cancer scare about 10 years ago. On the positive side, my doctor basically said "God no! Don't go to work!" when I got sick again, so I've been home for a week and a half. My fever is going down. At least the company is paying me for being out sick (as a possible COVID carrier), and once I'm fever free for 3 days in a row, I can work from home.
I've been planning on setting up my 7g bowfront All Glass Aquarium tank (which my fellow old people will remember, they stopped making them in early 00's). I test filled it and the back pane broke. I posted about that in another thread to see if it could maybe be fixed.
Just as I was about to post this, my roommie let me know that my cat peed on my brand new bed and mattress. She's lucky she's adorable.
