20g and hob refugium

So I got a skimmer and a hob refugium combo today. My question is how do I keep my tank from overflowing is there a 3/4inch one way valve?

You have to take into consideration how much water will drain into your display. I drilled a small hole in the feed pipe on the top and dropped my water level in the dt a hair.

What do you mean? The suction pipe or the return pipe? What does drilling a hole do? I was looking for a check valve but its brass and bulky.
