Hey All,

Been wanting to dive into the reef world and start a 20 gallon tank for my fiancé and I and could use some advice/suggestions on everything I need to get going.

We want to start with some easier corals and eventually get a few clownfish and some shimp/hermit crabs. I put together a bit of a list of everything we are looking at getting and figured this would be a good place to keep track of everything.

Nuvo 20 AIO tank
Nano Protein Skimmer
Cobalt Heater
Fluval Biomix Bags
Fritz Turbo Start
Carbon Bags
Sand
Rocks
AI Prime Light
Light Mount
Wavemaker

Is this overkill? Is this severely lacking? Where would you allocate more of your budget and where would you look for some deals?

Welcome. 🙂

Don't worry about Carbon bags, or Biomix bags initially, the tank comes with socks.
I run Bubble Magus Nano on my IM tanks.
Test kits, Salifert Alkalinity and Calcium will be fine.
Refractometer, hydrometers are junk.
ATO, you have a number of choices.

Looks like a good list. I will recommend an ATO and reservoir.
Thanks! I should have mentioned that this tank will be going on top of our bar in the living room and Im going to try to keep cables management as clean as possible. I dont think I will really have anywhere to put an ATO/Reservoir, is that a deal breaker?
