Had some spare equipment so I drilled, plumbed and leak tested a 20g Long with a 10g sump..

I have no Idea what to put in it tho..

Black box LED
2x 24" bulb T'5
Heater
dry rock
live sand
refugium

Ideas?
Suggestions?

Already have a QT and don't want a frag tank just yet.

nice! I am a big fan of the 20L
looks like you are goona run it as a peninsula even better!
gotta love reefs "have an extra tank around" might as well set it up :D

my suggestions are:
~RFA tank( I have one in a fiji cube peninsula )
~macro alage tank, was what i had in my 2Ol -dont under estimate the fun and challenge of a macro tank.
~ try your hand at a planted FW to balance out all the blues of the reef.
~one SPS coral let it grow out with a few damsels
~ soft coral only tank

Thanks very much for the suggestions. Peninsulas are my fav. My main display is also a peninsula.

A FW planted tank has crossed my mind before. Maybe I'll go that route.

Thanks

Just drilled a 2.5 gallon tank to make an internal refugium instead of silicone and baffles. I have a slightly similar setup on my DT and it works extremely well. I have a skimmer that will still fit, but I might not use it. I'd use the refugium as the main nutrient export. This is... an experimental build. so we will see. Probably only have 1 or 2 small fish.
The emergency drain is over the refugium but I will probably cut it back some so that it isn't.

It's been about 1 month and the cycle is done DONE in the spare 20 gallon long peninsula.

I have 1 skunk clownfish and 1 tiny mushroom coral. Since I have another main tank, I will take my time with this one. I used live rock from my other tank to help with the introduction of coralline.

glad this little peninsula is alive!

how did you find drilling the 2.5? always thought about drilling small tanks but with that thin glass...IDK

Thank you!.

It was actually pretty quick and easy to drill. I just didn't use too much pressure and went for it.
