Is anybody using the Aqualine Buschke 250W DE bulb? Do you like them. I know that they are expensive but I would like to hear some opinions thanks.

Frankly this was my first bulb that came together with my Aqua Medic pendant and then I tried out XM 20K just to find that they're kinda too Blue and not as bright.
I will definitely switch back to Aqualine Buschke as they're really crispy White & Bright ... the Best so far .... IMHO. Price wise a little steep though.

I heard there was a big let down in QC from helios so my next bulb will be a 20k ushio. __________________

The par and color output is also greatly affected by which ballast is being used, whether it be an electronic ballast which generally puts out less par but burns at a bluer color than the magnetics, which slightly overdrives the bulb making them appear whiter and also putting out more par.

I like bulb threads but this one is all over the place with trying to identifywhats really a great bulb. Im using a 10k de bulbs right now with great growth but its getting time to change and if avalible the Radium 250w 20 de would be my choice. Whats the closeest bulb to the Radium 20k in a DE type bulb. Im thinking either the Ushio or the Pheniox.

I switched from 250w DE Phoenix 14k's to Reeflux 250w DE 20k's a couple weeks ago. Par is a bit less but the blue color is much better. Corals (SPS) have responded well. I have actinic supplements so the combination is perfect for me.

this is a great thread, lighting is so important and there are so many choice'sthat its totally confussing on what to buy. I too have a DE type bulb and would love the Radium 250w 20k but they not offered. My next choice would be Ushio because of the feed back form this board.

Thanks all Bill

I would recommend the phoenix bulb...will give you the best par for growth and definitely more blue than your 10k's. I don't think you will get anywhere near your current growth rate with a 20k bulb other than radium. I run my phoenix bulbs overdriven on magnetic HQI ballasts with vho actinics and love the color and get great growth. HTH

remember the thing about the Phoenix bulb is that it keeps it color even after 3 years.......there was a great long term studies done that was impressive......plus it is cheap compared to other DE bulbs.

I never saw the study, but will say that's good because I run my bulbs for a long time (financially driven) and I can just say that my year and a half old Phoenix 250 gives me incredible SPS growth and seems to be holding color really well....

Where are folks getting the Helios these days?

I was read on another forum that its been relabeled as EVC or something like that. I was looking to try them again but could not find anything under Helios. Ended up getting a good deal on a Ushio 20k. So figured I would try that out.

I really liked my Helios bulb despite it only lasting for a couple months at most. The only down side is I recall one of the colors (reds i think) did not "pop" like the other colors.
