Some years back, my tank crashed and I lost everything. I had a pretty decent sized Achilles tang that just went missing one day, I tried looking for it but was nowhere to be found.
I still remember those few horrible days well.
During a feeding, notice the Achilles tang was missing, looked for it but couldn’t not find.
I was afraid of the worst but went to bed that night and figured he would either come out In The morning or I would find him passed.
Neither happened, was like he vanished into thin air. That second day, I got an ammonia spike and knew exactly what had happened, he hid somewhere and had died. I moved rocks, moved sand around, as much as I could but nothing. It was like the Achilles just vanished.
To this day, have no idea exactly where the fish hid? At the time, I was pretty much devastated and had to turn everything off and walk away.
Which, I now very much regret.
Especially with how out of control all the prices are with supplies, Equipment, livestock, etc.
Luckily, I kept all the tank and equipment.
Fast forward some years later and it’s time for a reboot.
While I am excited to get the tank back up and running, the prices on some of this stuff is shocking.
Anyway, here we go with the reboot thread.
Some of the other old timers like rev will probably recognize some of my old school equipment, lol! Some of this stuff is very old school, but is still working well and kicking strong.
They just don’t make stuff like they used to.
I will also post some pics of my tank, when it was in its glory.
A few of the pieces I really miss, like my yellow tip elegance coral and black hole sun acans.
anyway, time for some pics
my tank in its current state, looks a bit like a desert wasteland but it will come back to life soon enough. The tank has been finished cycling for about a month now. Slowly starting to stock fish again.
Current have a pair of occellaris clowns, 3 lyretail anthias, and a pair of royal grammas.
I cycled the tank with fritz Zyme turbo start and to my shocking surprise, the tank cycled in 6 days. I had read the stuff works, I truly does.
I was pretty much shocked on that 6th day when I tested my ammonia and nitrites, 0.
