New tank!! So i have torn down my tank due to struggles and frustraions. Instead of waiting for my tank to crash and/or quitting the hobby i am starting over. I have a innovative marine 25gal lagoon tank on order at my lfs and could not be more excited! I mean who doesnt like a new build right? So i will be running the ghost protine skimmer on the tank and i will be using the light off my old tank as well. The light is a maspect razor 420 LED. I will be upadting this thread as i get the tank up and running. So far my livestock planned are the few things i have that a friend is holding for me. I have a pair of black phantom clowns, a christmas wrasse, my warpaint scoly, a 12 head colony splatter hammer(green and purple). And 3 mushrooms. More goodies planned but will be a lps/softy tank.

I have the same tank! I’ve had it up a couple months now all I use is a mixture of about 5 pounds of coral skeleton, live rock and a 5 gallon water every 7-10 days. Bare bottom as you can see no fish just high end corals. The return pump on it is great!! Creates great flow but I add a JP-25 for a flow left to right.

OP: I understand your desire to build a safe stand, and you should build it however the heck you want...it is YOUR stand, right? :)

The only thing I think you might consider is that with the 4x4's you are going to miss the extra space underneath that you could gain by going with a 2x4 instead. The 2x4 will still be more than structually safe plus you'll add another 4" of usuable space for your sump/gear/storage.

Thanks for the input guys! And i know the stand is overkill but hey why not i keep most of my reefing supplies in a closet so i want too worried about storage.

Putting the side pannels on tonight, hopefully tomorrow i can get the front panel on so i can do my trim before the tank gets here! Ive decided on going cabinet style on the front face of the stand so im hoping to have my door finished tomorrow as well

I built my first stand with 4 x 4's they do take up space, but the wood is so much better in quality than the cheap warping 2 x 4's that won't hold a screw. In case you are in a earthquake or a tornado I know where you will be hiding.

Panels and trim on! Turns out i am no master carpenter because my trim work has some gaps. Planing on sanding then getting some wood putty to fill my gaps. Once the glue and putty are dry and set i think im going to paint the trim and top black and leave the sides stained.

Plan for the the evening is to finish the door for the front cabinet. Tomorrow i hope to get the door mounted and all my gaps filled so i can paint and stain this weeked. Anyone have any input on what i should do for stain? I think i want to go with a light stain and black trim, i will also paint the top black so the top lip is sealed all the way around.
