So I have been doing some research on building a sump for my 29G Biocube. I was curious on what materials, GPH pump and layout of it I should use.

I like working with acrylic for sumps - as for layout, it really depends on what space you have. For flow, I suggest low (2-3x turnover per hour)

Yeah I was looking into build one out of acrylic. But it looks like it would cost around $120 for all 5 panels minus the baffles, does that seem right?

Following. I’ve been wanting to convert my 32 into display and large sump as well. How are you planning on plumbing it and stuff? Will the aio chamber just be dry?

I have been doing some extensive research. I was thinking about taking the aio chambers out and drilling 3 holes into the back of the biocube 1 main overflow and another one for emergency overflow and then the return. There is a kit on glass-holes.com that sell the glass cutter bit and the fittings for the holes. Then run some soft tubing to the sump and add a valve so I can control the flow to reduce noise.

Alright so I just was thinking that I could use PVC for all the sides except the front which would be acryli. That would save me like $50,
but the thickness between the too is a little different the PVC is 10mm and the acrylic is 3/8. Would that matter to much? And I am still unsure on how I am going to do the baffles.

I just realized that it would cost $55 to get it shipped. But if I spend $3500 I get free shipping lol. I was using Acme plastics are there any cheaper sites?

I don't know where you live but I'd look for a plastic supplier/company in your area. Chances are they would have some scrap material they would sell you pretty cheap. They also might be willing to build a sump for you for cheap too.

It is listed at $100 and I offered $50 initially but he shot it down. But after a few days I offered $75 just to see what would happen and he accepted it.
