Hello all! Figured I’d post a little about the main tank I’ll be asking about on here. It’s a 29g. Started life as 20 and recently updated to 29 for more volume/stability as we get started in reefing. Has roughly 15 lbs of assorted live rock bought from a couple of LFS. Has another 10 lbs of Marco reefsaver dry rock from brs. The Marco rock was added about maybe six weeks ago. Lighting brand is unknown. No markings anywhere. Currently running a canister filter with GAC and filter floss. Have a single Hydor 240 recently added for flow. Stocking currently includes a clownfish, a zebra dart fish, and a purple fire fish. CUC consists of 7 astrea snails, 4 nassarius snails, and a brittle starfish which came as a hitchhiker on the fox coral. Speaking of which currently I have a fox coral that is trying to bleach (I hope he comes out of it) and a small frag colony of zoas. There is also what I believe to be a hidden cup coral that came on the live rock. We hope to add more in the near future. Other item of note is the custom built stand. While fairly simple design it’s all oak and built to last. The tank is my sons I am mainly the maintenance man. Pictures follow! On the picture with the plating coralline algae there is something on that rock to the front of and left of the algae. Anyone have an idea of what this is? It appears to be dying back a little. My guess was some type of sponge? Thanks all and enjoy.
P.S. the picture with the turtle is of the brittle starfish. He hides in that cave. I was excited to find him as a hitchhiker cuz I’d heard they sift sand. But I’ve never caught him out of that cave. He’s parked there and dangles his arms out and catches food and stuff as it floats by and drags it into the cave lol. Still interesting though.

Just a quick update. Got my fox coral happy again. One polyp may have been lost though...getting some purple and green on the Marco rocks which were added approximately 8 weeks back. Have some more coral ordered to help fill it out a little quicker. Gonna put in an island of Xenia, a montipora and some birds nest. Thinking of adding some gsp too. Get some quick growth in there and supposed to be easier corals to keep. Thanks for visiting!
