Slapped this together for my brother and nephew to have a tank. My brother got me interested in the hobby and he stepped out a decade ago. So im obliged to get him back into it.

All hardware is stainless steel boating hardware and some aluminum brackets holding the lights.
Couple 24” reef bright blue strips and an old current usa led mounted in the canopy 10-11 inches from water. Threw a set of thermostat controlled computer fans in there too.

Stand has space for two 5 gallon buckets and a shelf for a switchable power supply. Couple hooks for towels or whatever.

**Photos are from in my cluttered basement
29 gallon aqueon tank is pretty far along (no pictures yet, needs tlc) has a diy corner surface skimmer that holds a hob skimmer pump. That hob skimmer drains into a diy hob algae chamber (waiting on light delivery) other than that, there is a wave pump.
Has some simple livestock- clownfish, damsel, rainsford goby and lawnmower blenny. Couple emerald crabs, couple peppermint shrimp, an urchin, snails; ceriths, dove shells, astreas, couple bumble bees and one conch. Button polyps, green pinstripe and marbled green mushrooms, kenya tree, pavona, gorgonian, toadstool leather, and neon polyp toadstool so far...
Dose redsea ABC+ foundation for calcium magnesium and carbonates.
Will follow up with tank pictures and photos of the whole shebang soon

Tank is cloudy after moving it, and some corals have fallen off the rockwork. I have a huge crop of caulerpa growing for the pod population and nutrient control. Will clean it all out when the algae fuge light arrives and is setup.

The right side of the tank will get a bunch of real tonga branches from my 125 reef, to cover the apparatus (heater, skimmer box) .
Ill also show all the diy filter stuff soon. And again its setup in my messy old basement until it goes to my brothers.

Righ to left:
Surface skimmer chamber with skimmer pump feeds the skimmer and dumps into a hob chamber that i will put chaeto into when i get a light setup over it.
The algae chamber helps reduce micro bubbles from the skimmer, and the waterfall coming from the algae chamber along with the surface skimmer makes the top of the water stay clean of dust or oils.

The surface skimming chamber i made from a small bucket. (Big spender)
Tank is going to live at my brothers house in my nephews room, so im not investing loads into this setup.... even the fish are second hand.

Plan to remove all the macro and cleanup the tank more as i get the filtration setup further. I do have more colorful corals growing out to add to these simple ones. Also a load of branch rock to assemble around the overflow and heater, to keep the focus on livestock not gear.
Alot of the coral choices and care of the tank will be out of my hands. Im just getting a solid base done before hand off.
