As the headline says ... my last one has bit the dust. I'm a little salty about this. I had bought three off of the marketplace and one new. One died within months. I lost another about three months back, then another ... and the one I bought new died yesterday. I'm over it. I knew the risk of buying used but to have the brand new one follow right behind is sickening. I was a huge fan of @Kessil but I cannot bring myself to spend another grand on lights that will bite the dust in three years.
I have a 48" wide IM AIO lagoon. My corals are all softies. I have a few leathers holding on but now I am on day 2 of darkness. I need something good, something quick and preferably not another $1000. I had been looking at the AP700 or AP9X before the last one died. I love the idea of reusing the hanging brackets but I don't know that this is a good enough reason to buy a product that has burned me. Oh ... I will miss that shimmer though.
Anyone have something that you really like? AI Blade? Is that enough?
Thanks in advance...

Have you tried blowing them out with air? Sometimes they get salt creep and moisture inside. Also verify with a good power cord. Are these the a360we or a360x?

Have you called them or emailed to see what they can do to help. It’s worth a try. Especially since you bought the one new. How old was the new one that failed?

These are the A360x. I set up this tank in the summer of 23. So that makes the new one about 2 1/2 years old. One of the three that I bought off of marketplace had been NIB, never opened.
I blew out the first one that died to no avail. I'll Google the driver, thanks for the tip.
Right now, I need to get light on this tank. 😭

I really my AP9xs, but I get the feeling of losing out on an investment in a company. I wonder if Kessil would upgrade you at a wholesale cost? I’d think they’d do some kind of replacement special deal. Can’t hurt to ask.

That's an excellent point. I can't stay dark waiting to fix or negotiate though. I'm leaning on ordering a strip to hold it over while I investigate my options. If I get these fixed or work out a deal with @Kessil, I can use the strip for supplemental later.

Seems like ReefFi dominates on this forum more then EcoTech.

I personally run Radeon's absolutely love them, but they were EXPENSIVE.
I also love the fact i can always replace the LED array if it burns out or if i get bored of a color spectrum, like Blue and Pro.

I have seen people on the forum still run Radeon G1's and G2's so that should speak for its reliability.

If your not willing to spend so much, i hear the chinese knockoff's the A8 Pro's that uses the real Cree's are very good. Remember its the PRO and not the SE you want, and you'll know because the PRO's cost a bit more for those real Cree LED's.

Look into quanta lights. Luca is awesome and his lights looks great and grow coral super well. Also very reasonable on the pricing for what you get quality wise.

Also should mention I switched to quanta after my three Kessils died as well so I understand the frustration of shoddy workmanship.

I have the A80, so it's not quite the same, but I had one die on me within a year or so of owning it from brand new. I reached out to Kessil and they sent me a replacement (which took 2 weeks from first email to delivery), and that's when I realized the power cord died, not the light.
I replaced the power cord with an adapter off amazon with the same power rating, and that fixed the issue. Now I have a backup light.

I'd be beyond frustrated if 3 lights died on me like that. I don't blame you for wanting to shift away from that brand entirely.

When you go with a company that is known for having good customer service I don’t understand the hesitation to actually call upon them for that service.

That service is part of what he paid for. If you would rather look at the products as disposable, there are much cheaper options that are in fact disposable.

Because were so used to getting shafted by the company AFTER warrenty.
I keep forgetting some companies stand behind even after warrenty support like APEX and ECOTECH.

But im so used to companies like ASUS and Gigabyte which will make sport of your RMA, and even lose it in house an claim they never got it.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of companies with the day after that warranty expires will not carry one bit! But you won’t know that unless you ask, and it never hurts to ask.

Remember, a closed mouth doesn’t get fed!

Are you using the Atlas or the Helix?
Currently I have two tanks set up with helix. I am looking into getting an atlas for an upcoming build.

I reached out to Kessil. They are asking me for serial numbers, so I guess that is my project tonight. I'm going to send them photos so they can troubleshoot. I reached out to Luca, he is on vacation but he replied that he could reach out to me when he gets back. For now, I am going to Petco to get whatever I can put my hands on while I work out a permanent solution. I've been dark for several days and the coral life is not happy. Maybe I'll knock back some of that GHA though. LOL Looks like a water change weekend.

maybe a Hygger? If you just need something so your tank has light while your Kessils get repaired Hygger is not very expensive. Also your local Petco will have AquaIllumination in stock, and they are fairly inexpensive for a "need it now" light.

My wife's tank light (1 month old) just bricked on us during an update. So I know how you feel. Pure panic to get light ASAP. I myself have an old fluorescent hood still light that I rigged up.
