Hey guys.

Ive had my fish in a copper QT for 30 days while my display runs fallow. Copper level has always been above 2.0 and nearly always near 2.5ppm.

I need to leave them in the QT’s for another 15 days. Can I start bringing the copper level down to 0 now? Im worried that ich may still be surviving on surfaces. I dont know how that works.

If necessary I can leave it at full copper strength
For the next 15 days.

My yellow tang seems to be having a rough time with the copper so I want to get him in normal water again so he can have his nori. Thanks.

If the tank was at 81F, you can remove the copper and start prazi. Jay Hemdal's quarantine guide has the instructions on this website.

Because my Achilles was very sick I had to start with temps around 70-72. These QTs were there for the first two weeks and now run at 78.

In this case, I would run it longer. I would also bump the temp up if you can. The 30 day timeline assumed you are running the QT at 81F as higher temperatures speed up the marine ich cycle.

Any idea how much longer? I just finished 30 days copper with some new fish today, but only at 76° oops somehow I missed the 81° requirement.

It's sort of a guessing game at that point. My guess would be to add another 15 days minimum at 81F but I'm betting others are going to suggest longer.
